Mitchell T. Teta

Mitchell Teta, a partner at Dolan Divorce Lawyers, courageously fought cancer for 19 months until his passing on September 19, 2022. Mitch was a brilliant lawyer and wonderful person. He had an impact on countless lives through his decade of work as a family law attorney.

Mitch was the beloved husband of Sarah (Reilly) Teta and devoted father to Reese Michelle Teta. Mitch was born in Torrington to parents Thomas and Caroline Lauren (Cassidy) Teta. In addition to Sarah, Reese and his parents, Mitch is also survived by his brother, Travis, sister in law, Megan, and his first cousin David Vecca.

Mitch graduated from Pomperaug High School with honors and played tight end on the Undefeated 2004 State Championship Football Team. Mitch attended Southern Connecticut State University and Quinnipiac University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude from both. He was an associate editor for the Quinnipiac Law Review and received the Academic Achievement Award in contracts. Mitch also served as a professor of business law at Housatonic Valley Community College. Mitch was a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association. In addition, Mitch served as a special master for the Bridgeport Superior Court and was a certified counselor of domestic violence.

Mitch and Sarah married on October 12, 2019. Sarah was a devoted and loving wife to Mitch and demonstrated immense strength and compassion during his courageous battle with cancer. They welcomed their daughter Reese into the world on February 8, 2021, just days after his diagnosis. Mitch cherished every moment he spent with Reese and Sarah taking walks, going to the park or just playing in the house. One of Mitch’s greatest passions was making his friends and family laugh. He also enjoyed playing the guitar, comedy, reading, the beach, kayaking with his wife and loving dog Augie, skiing, professional wrestling, and rooting for the Yankees and Eagles. Mitch was also passionate about his personal fitness and practiced Brazilian jiu jitsu.

Mitch was a huge part of our firm, and we miss him dearly.
